Eli Russell Linnetz Expands the ERL Universe
For Spring 2027, Eli Russell Linnetz expanded ERL into new territory with the brand’s first dedicated womenswear offering, broadening the scope of the label while remaining firmly rooted in its distinctly Californian perspective.
The collection drew inspiration from an imagined East Coast setting, allowing Linnetz to reinterpret classic American wardrobe staples through ERL’s playful and often surreal lens. As has become characteristic of the designer’s work, familiar references were filtered through exaggerated color, distressed finishes, and an intentionally offbeat sensibility.
Throughout the collection, traditional American garments were continuously reworked. Madras fabrics, argyle knits, polo shirts, plaid shirting, and faded graphic tees appeared alongside relaxed tailoring and sun washed separates, creating a wardrobe that balanced nostalgia with experimentation.
The introduction of womenswear brought a new softness to the ERL universe through lightweight dresses, sheer layers, beach cover ups, and relaxed silhouettes. Vintage inspired prints, patchwork details, floral motifs, and ombré treatments added texture and visual richness while maintaining the carefree spirit that defines the brand.
Many garments emphasized ease and movement through the use of chiffon, crochet, and upcycled materials. Airy fabrics and fluid construction reinforced the laid back sensibility that has long distinguished Linnetz’s approach to design.
Alongside these softer elements, ERL’s signature eccentricity remained intact. Vibrant outerwear, heavily treated cargo pants, textured knits, and boldly colored tailoring introduced moments of playful excess, highlighting the designer’s willingness to embrace both sentimentality and irreverence within the same collection.
As ERL continues to evolve, the addition of womenswear signals a significant expansion for the brand while preserving the distinctive visual language that has defined Linnetz’s work from the beginning. The result was a collection that felt familiar yet expansive, opening a new chapter for one of American fashion’s most singular creative voices.
